Honey Soy chicken is a quick Chinese recipe of chicken cooked in soy honey sauce. This gluten free, sticky honey soy chicken can be pan fried or even baked and I assure you is going to be your favourite soon!
In a bowl, mix together the honey, chilli sauce, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and ginger paste and minced garlic. Add the chicken and mix it well. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
2. Take a skillet and add the sesame or olive oil to it. Now add the marinated chicken mixture to it and add salt and pepper to taste. Fry until the chicken is nice brown in colour.
Do NOT cover and cook (You don't want too much water in the form of steam in your pan.
Keep occasionally turning on both sides to let the chicken cook well in the sauce.
After about 25-30 minutes, keep checking the chicken by piercing with a fork to see if it has cooked well.
Once Chicken is done turn off the heat and sprinkle finely chopped spring onions on top of it.
a) The cooking time should be long enough for the chicken to cook well in the juices and stay tender but not too long enough for the chicken to become hard or the soy and honey marinade to dry up.
b) If you want it a little less sweet ore more sweet, increase the portion of chillies or the portion of honey accordingly.
